Large IT Projects

Dealing with large complex IT projects is never easy and there is no one methodology that would suit every project.

There are several very important factors. One of the key factors is to ensure the specification is really buttoned down upfront. It is vital that everybody involved in the delivery and implementation thoroughly reviews the specification and buys into it before the purchasing aspects of the project start.

One of the most successful software development projects was where the drafting of the detailed specification was put out to tender, then reviewed and then incorporated in the RFP. The development took 18 months but came in on time and to budget.

We have attached a schematic showing a generic methodology for complex IT projects which might provide food for thought.
